A Study on the Application of Metformin in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Background: Metformin is a first-line medication for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study evaluates its efficacy and safety in a cohort of patients. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 500 patients treated with metformin for 12 months. Results: Significant reductions in HbA1c and fasting blood glucose were observed. Adverse events were mild and gastrointestinal in nature. Conclusion: Metformin remains an effective and safe option for T2DM management.
